Partnerships and Collaboration

[pahrt-ner-ship]

1. the state or condition of being a partner; participation; association; joint interest.

2. an association of persons joined as partners in business.

Cultivating strong partnerships is key to a successful meeting or event, whether it's in-person, hybrid or virtual. Partners offer the resources you need to create unforgettable experiences and reach your objectives. In this Education Essentials, you'll learn how to create successful partnerships, manage your partnerships during difficult times, leverage your network to deliver on new requests from clients, and more.

Partnerships in Action

In partnership with Incentive Research Foundation (IRF) and Society for Incentive Travel Excellence (SITE), FICP recently launched the third annual Incentive Travel Industry Index (ITII). This study consolidates efforts across the industry and provides both a historical snapshot of where the incentive travel industry has been and a predictive hypothesis of where it’s going. This year, the study will focus on COVID-19 and attempt to evaluate the short, medium and long-term effects of the pandemic on our industry. Participate today.

How to Manage Partner Relationships in Difficult Times

As meetings professionals, we know that partnerships are critical to our success, and these relationships are what will help us get back on track post-pandemic. That said, so many of the companies and organizations that we rely on (and vice versa) are struggling in this moment, and how we help, support and generally treat them will play a role in the future of these symbiotic relationships. In this recent FICP blog post, Kyle F. Jordan, Ed.M., MS, CAE, CMM, CMP shares a few tips on how to be relationship-first with partners during difficult times. By acknowledging staffing and resourcing changes, over-communicating expectations and supporting individuals in your network, you'll cultivate strong working relationships that will support your success. Hotel Buyouts – Creating the Bubble

In light of current travel standards and expectations brought on by the global pandemic, the meetings and events industry must embrace enhanced cleanliness and physical distancing requirements to do their part in stopping the spread of COVID-19. Many industries have pivoted and adapted to new ways of working. The professional sports industry, in particular, has been successful with professional basketball, hockey and soccer teams playing in restricted and carefully regulated “bubbles.”

As meetings professionals strategize to deliver on a new set of requests from clients, ensure company due diligence and abide by hotel and site protocols, one consideration is creating your own “bubble” through a hotel buyout. Learn more about the benefits of a hotel buyout, key areas to consider and examples of successful bubble buyouts in this recent FICP blog post by FICP Education Committee member, Lis Chmiel.

FICP Anytime Webinar: You Are Not Alone When it Comes to Planning

As many meeting professionals try to navigate through virtual conferences, hosting in-person events this year or postponing everything until 2021, it's important to know you are not alone! In this FICP Anytime webinar recording, a panel of FICP hospitality partners share how their teams have been working with meeting professionals alike to host the best event possible. The panelists provide key takeaways on what their teams have been working on, over the past few months, to follow local and state regulations. Access the recording.

Creating Successful Partnerships

According to Destinations International, in order for a partnership to be truly successful, it must be mutually beneficial, participants must agree on their roles and responsibilities, those involved should equally shoulder the duties and commitment, communication is crucial, and there must be mechanisms in place to evaluate the success and benefits of the partnership. Find out how you can incorporate these elements into new and existing partnerships in this article.

#TBT - Better Together

In this FICP blog post from last year, Cindy Y. Lo, DMCP of Red Velvet Events and Kendra Heredia of NORCAL Group explore how meetings professionals can find and maintain the right DMC partnership for their company.
