Lori Allen, Vice President, Global Event Operations, MetLife

Lori Allen serves as Vice President of Global Event Operations at MetLife. She is responsible for the execution of the highest profile events across the firm and leads a team of event professionals who specialize in planning, meeting technology and audiovisual production. She also is the head of MetLife’s Global Planning Community, connecting event management teams in key markets outside of the global center including Japan, Korea, Mexico and EMEA. Lori is a member of the MCAF group (Meetings Competitive Advantage Forum), which is composed of top event management professionals from a wide range of verticals. She is also a member of the FICP Board of Directors and serves as the Chair of the Influence Committee as well as Co-Chair of FICP’s Strategic Leaders program.

Heidi Carlisle, Second Vice President of Travel, Meetings and Incentives, Aflac

Heidi Carlisle is currently the second vice president for Aflac’s travel, meetings and incentives department. She leads the team for the company’s corporate travel and event planning team. Together, they oversee 500+ events and corporate travel for 5,000+ employees. Heidi has been in the event and travel planning industry for more than 29 years — 24 of those years with Aflac and 5 years in the hospitality industry — and holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Ashford University. She currently serves on the FICP Board of Directors. During her free time, Heidi enjoys driving her pro-mod drag car and traveling with her family.

Reflections Kick Off | 1:30 p.m. – 2:10 p.m.
Attendees will partake in a series of 1:1 conversations designed to introduce them to their peers and allow for reflection on what has brought them to today and what they are hoping to get out of the Strategic Leaders Event.

Career Pathing and Structuring Your Team | 2:15 p.m. – 3:30 p.m. 
Developing your team may begin with assessing roles and how you differentiate opportunities for each member of your department. Incorporating feedback from rising leaders, this discussion will help you understand what you can do to retain talent within your department and company while supporting their overall growth.
                        
Enhancing Your Team’s Communication Practices | 4:00 p.m. – 5:15 p.m.
The impact of clear, concise and audience-appropriate communication can have a lasting effect on your department’s reputation. Dive into the different aspects of communication involving your team, from objective and messaging to delivery and reception. Through small-group work, participants will then apply those considerations to develop messaging specific to internal stakeholders, suppliers, contractors, and supervisors – creating a blueprint for their teams to follow. 

Focus on Trends in the Financial & Insurance Industry | 5:20 p.m. – 6:15 p.m.
In this session, we will discuss industry trends and developments anticipated for the coming year including how you are setting strategy, developing goals, and creating a support network around these trending topics, from DEI to ESG. 

Tuesday, December 6

Metrics and Reporting: What Stakeholders Need to Know and How to Deliver the Message | ​8:45 a.m. – 10:15 a.m.
Through small-group exercises and scenarios, participants will learn strategies for storytelling and data visualization to help share the impact of their department on the organization. This session will provide insights on how strategic leaders can promote transparency by involving team members in that process. Attendees will also have the opportunity to share best practices on reporting frequency, what to report on, technologies to use and innovative ways to communicate the volume of business.

Open Space | 10:30 a.m. –11:30 a.m.
What haven’t we covered? The Strategic Leaders Event will close out with a space for participants to share final thoughts, challenges and revisit key discussion points introduced earlier in the event.
