Today is Global Meetings Industry Day, a day that allows us to shine a light on the real impact meetings have on people, businesses and the global economy. Of course, no one knows that better than the FICP community!
New to GMID? Check out the highlights from last year.
A Meetings Mean Business survey reports that a majority of executives say in-person meetings improve their ability to close deals, network, develop professionally and grow their bottom line. They reported that in-person meetings improve a team’s engagement by 94% and collaboration by 91%.
In the most recent FICP Pulse Survey, meetings professionals reported that the size and number of meetings you’re planning is increasing and this trend has continued over the past three quarters. As can be expected, the hospitality partner community reported that business was expected to increase. This is positive news that the value of face-to-face meetings is being felt by your clients.
This is surely a sign that Our Industry Has Come a Long Way, Baby! And our FICP mission and vision has shifted to reflect that change. Today, on Global Meetings Industry Day as well as every day, together as a community, we are working to amplify the positive impact and value of meetings and events professionals.
March’s edition of Education Essentials is full of tools you can use to demonstrate your value and the value of meetings. Another great resource is this FICP Short in which Crystal Neubauer shares her tips for securing your seat at the table. Outside of your own organization, you can become an advocate for the meetings industry with five acts that require 30 seconds or less.
Today, please join me and meetings professionals around the world to participate in this international day of advocacy. Use #GMID19 on social media to follow and participate in the online conversation. Post a photo from a meeting you're having today or share one of the images from the Meetings Mean Business toolkit. We want to see it! Tag FICP on Twitter or Facebook in your posts. Happy GMID!
