Delivering Value to FICP Partners
Before I journey to an unknown destination, or one I haven’t visited in awhile, I quickly MapQuest my route. Wouldn’t it be ideal, if there was a way to generate an easy-to-follow set of directions for your career path?
There is! FICP is your roadmap to education, whether you’ve already been down that road or trying a new direction. The association’s resources can help you chart your way to a successful career. Taking our inspiration from the beautiful, far-reaching arch in St. Louis, The Archway to New Discoveries, this year’s Education Forum, June 16-18, is packed with workshops and general session speakers that promise to help you navigate your way.
Where are we going? David Houle, futurist, strategist and one of our keynote speakers, will share his predictions for our industry. He’ll also offer a workshop for those that would like to engage in a more in-depth discussion on the subject.
Where are we every day? New technology is thrown at us on a daily basis. Jim Spellos will share best practices in his sessions on “Excel and Beyond” and “Smart Phones and Smart Meetings.”
The emergence of social media is changing the way we design our meetings and communicate with clients, but how can we best leverage it? The “Social Media Strategies that Lead to Results” session will review how to effectively use these online communities and how they can impact your brand.
The Education Forum is just the visible part of the iceberg. FICP presented two successful educational offerings this year – complimentary to planner members and hospitality partners. More than 60 planners and hospitality partners attended the “Social Media Victories” Webinar. It provided solid takeaways for the listeners on how they can use tools to increase the value of their meetings. And earlier this week, our first Talk Radio session on “Tips on How to Demonstrate the Value of Meeting Planners to C-Level Executives” offered valuable insight on communicating with senior executives.
The real discoveries are made as you network with your peers in the industry, helping each other forge ahead. Take the high road and further your education!
Best,

Jana Stern

Show Your Industry Support - Participate in CIC Survey
On April 7, planner members should have received an e-mail from Deborah Sexton, CIC Chair, containing a link and request to participate in a study that will determine the economic significance of meetings in the United States. If you have not already done so, please take a few minutes to fill it out. All who participate will receive a complimentary executive summary. If you have any questions, please contact the survey project manager, Robert Canton.
Thank You Jan Hennessey!
Due to a recent career change, Jan Hennessey no longer qualifies as an FICP member and as such, she has resigned her membership and position on the board as Vice President, Communications. FICP would like to thank her for her service to the association and dedication to the meetings community.
The new Vice President, Communications will be announced in an upcoming e-mail communication.
Year-round Online Education
Yesterday FICP hosted its second online learning event of 2010, a Talk Radio program about communicating your value to C-level executives. If you were unable to participate, the recording of this program, and other past sessions are archived on the FICP Web site for members to access. Please note, you must be logged in to view these archives.
